Presentation to focus on Quakers

Sadsbury Friends Meeting, 1089 Simmontown Road, Christiana, will host a presentation at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 5.

Ernest Schreiber, a member of Lancaster Friends Meeting and a former executive of a local newspaper, will offer information from his book "A Brief History of Quakers in Lancaster County, 1658-1959."

The Quakers are a generally quiet, contemplative sect formally known as the Religious Society of Friends. Quakers were a friendly presence during the Christiana Riot and Underground Railroad, which played a part in moving the nation toward abolishing slavery. Quakers also ran successful businesses and were politicians, educators, farmers, and temperance advocates.

The talk is free and open to the public. For more information, call 484-985-0454.
