Prima Theatre show to celebrate moms

Prima Theatre will present "The Mom Show," a concert experience celebrating what it means to be a mom, on select dates from Friday, May 5, to Saturday, May 13, at Prima Theatre, 941 Wheatland Ave., Lancaster.

Songs and stories will be center stage in a cabaret-style interactive concert. The show features songs like "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder, "Mama Said" by The Shirelles, and "Brave" by Sara Bareilles that are woven together with banter and lighthearted games, featuring prizes. Mitch Nugent, Prima's co-founder and executive artistic producer, noted that the show can be enjoyed by anyone, not just moms.

The show features Josephine Phoenix, Michelle Wittrien, Tammie Harris, and swing Kayla Capone Kasper. Phoenix hails from Miami, Fla., and is a stage and screen star with strong comedic skills. Wittrien is a Lancaster theater veteran and is returning to Prima after performing at American Music Theatre and Prima for many years. Wittrien has recently been a leading vocalist with the United States Air Force Band. Harris returns to Prima after playing the Witch in "Into the Woods." Kasper is a new mom, as well as voice coach, a singer, and an actress, making her Prima debut. Music directing is Lauren Ney, who leads the live band on a baby grand piano, along with Tristan Klopp on guitar, Joe Fuscia on percussion, and Kacy Raby on bass.

Prima's theater offers free parking, an in-theater bar, and a close view of the performers.
