Program on pawpaws scheduled

The Penn State Master Gardeners will host a workshop on the pawpaw on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The program will be held at the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster.

Judy Bono, a pawpaw grower and enthusiast, will share her knowledge of the history and cultivation of this short-season fruit, which is the largest native North American fruit. The Bonos manage an orchard of 48 trees and 20 varieties of pawpaw. They have been organizing the local Pawpaw Festival for almost two decades.

There is a fee, with a discount available through Friday, Sept. 15. Registration is required by visiting http://tinyurl.com/MasterGardenersPawpaw.
