Program to feature state legislator

The Master Watershed Steward Program, in partnership with the Appalachian Brewing Company Inc., will hold Tap Talks: Water Quality on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the second-floor room at the Appalachian Brewing Company Brewery, 50 N. Cameron St., Harrisburg.

State Rep. Patty Kim will discuss the significance of clean water in Harrisburg and the surrounding counties and the role of elected officials in the care of the Susquehanna River and water quality. This program is an extension of the larger Tap Talks series hosted by the Penn State Extension's Master Watershed Steward Program.

As a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Kim is a member of the Climate Caucus, and she introduced a bill to help Pennsylvania counties maintain and adequately fund their recycling, litter cleanup, and alternative energy programs. Additionally, she has worked to secure state funding for several projects to improve green spaces, promote community revitalization, and improve stormwater infrastructure. These projects include a Reservoir Park update, the Capital Area Greenbelt-Paxtang Parkway Trail System restoration, and the Urban Meadow Extension.

This program is free, but attendees must be 21 years of age or older to register. To make reservations, visit https://extension.psu.edu/tap-talks-water-quality. For other inquiries, contact Jim Lewis at jml8093@psu.edu.
