Program to focus on Confederate spy

The Hershey Civil War Roundtable will meet on Thursday, April 18, at Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 542, 8000 Derry St., Harrisburg, at 7:30 p.m. The program will also be livestreamed on Zoom and Facebook Live. After the program, a recording will be posted at http://www.hersheycwrt.org.

Bob O'Conner will present "Sarah Slater - Confederate Spy and Lincoln Conspirator." O'Conner likes to write and speak about little-known but significant characters such as Sarah Slater. Slater was a courier for the Confederacy, carrying messages from Richmond to the Confederacy's Secret Service office in Montreal. She worked in cooperation with John Surratt Jr. and knew John Wilkes Booth. She disappeared after Lincoln's assassination and was never found.
