Program to focus on dementia

Lori L. Dierolf, president of Open Door Training and Development, will present a program titled "Understanding Dementia" at the Monday, Nov. 27, meeting of the Elizabeth Hughes Society. This gathering will be held at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 398 N. Locust St., Elizabethtown. It is open to the public.

Dierolf will share how to respond respectfully, effectively, and empathetically to friends and loved ones who have dementia.

Having earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Millersville University, with a concentration in human relations, Dierolf began her career as a care aide working with individuals who had suffered traumatic brain injuries. In 1996, she became the human resources director in a skilled nursing facility where she was responsible for all aspects of staff development and education for long-term care. She has conducted training sessions for the Boy Scouts of America, local senior centers and other organizations and associations.
