Program to focus on Watt & Shand

The Strasburg Heritage Society will meet on Monday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Strasburg Presbyterian Church, 101 S. Decatur St.

The speaker will be Nancy Groff, great-granddaughter of Peter T. Watt, one of the three founders of the Watt & Shand Department Store in Lancaster. Designed by the famed architect C. Emlen Urban, the store operated at the corner of King and Queen streets in Lancaster from 1878 to 1992. In 1999, the building was put on the National Register of Historic Places. Since 2009, the site has been the home of the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The Strasburg Heritage Society welcomes new members.
