Project to benefit adoption effort and local widow

Both Hands has announced a fundraiser to help offset the costs of an adoption while also aiding a local widow.

With assistance from Both Hands, Nadon and Christi Zook are coordinating a day of service at the home of Ms. Elizabeth of Strasburg. Ms. Elizabeth, 82, had hip surgery in October 2022 and currently needs assistance with home maintenance and improvements, including landscaping. The Zooks and a team of volunteers will work at her home on Saturday, June 17.

Just as participants in a fundraiser 5K race request donations in support of their event, the Zooks will seek sponsorships in advance of their day of service. The Zooks are pursuing domestic infant adoption and are working with multiple agencies across the United States.

To donate to the Zooks' service project, contact Christi at 717-606-6952.

Both Hands' mission is "to serve orphans, widows and adoptive families." The organization's name refers to the image of one hand for the widow and one hand for the orphan. Both Hands helps families fundraise for their adoptions by coordinating service projects benefiting widows; proceeds go toward the adoptions. Both Hands receives fundraising support for its operating expenses through private donors, so no funds raised by a family and its team of volunteers are deducted for Both Hands' administrative costs. Since 2008, Both Hands projects have raised over $16 million for adoptions and orphan care and have served more than 1,300 widows.
