Quarryville Library Slates Activities

A CareerLink Job Fair will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Job seekers can meet with a variety of employers hiring for full-time, part-time, and temp/seasonal positions. For a list of registered employers, search for "PA CareerLink Lancaster County" on Facebook. At the job fair, attendees may also connect with CareerLink to discuss its young adult program for Lancaster County residents ages 16 to 24. The program includes paid internships and career readiness workshops.

The library will host Trivia Night on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m. Quiz bowl veteran Phil Gruber will test participants' knowledge, and the questions are best suited to adults and high school-age teens. Attendees may participate individually or in teams of up to four people. There will be prizes and refreshments.

There is still time to sign up for the Summer Reading Program. Visit the library for a form. Completed forms must be turned in by Saturday, Aug. 13. Prizes will be awarded.

The Friends will hold a book sale on Friday, Aug. 26, and Saturday, Aug. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items sold may include children's picture books and chapter books, popular fiction, nonfiction and puzzles.

A Mid-Day Matinee will be held on Friday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. Attendees may bring a snack. For the title of this month's movie, call the library at 717-786-1336. Movies may be rated PG-13, and they are best for adults age 18 and up.

A pop-up book sale will offer a variety of romance novels for purchase in the lobby beginning Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m. and continuing through Saturday, Aug. 13.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Quarryville Library is offering a free computer and digital training course in partnership with Millersville University. For more information, visit the previously mentioned website, click Events and look for Digital Literacy and Workforce Development.

The Afternoon Book Club will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. to discuss "The Friend" by Sigrid Nunez. Registration is requested so that the library can have sufficient copies of the book available.

The Knitting & Crocheting Group meets every Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. This group is open to knitters, crocheters and other crafters of all ages.
