Rams Head Wins Chef's Best Competition

ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester recently announced the winner of its ninth annual Chef's Best culinary competition, featuring the top restaurants in the West Chester area. Rams Head Bar & Grill, located on Market Street in downtown West Chester, received the most votes from diners for its lamb lollies with homemade chimichurri and balsamic reduction. The event raised $10,000 to enable ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester to support the unemployed and underemployed in the greater West Chester community.

This is the second time that Rams Head has won the award, according to ACT in Faith board president Denise Antonelli, who is also a partner at the West Chester law firm Gawthrop Greenwood.

Chef's Best, the signature fundraiser of ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester, featured a twist this year to accommodate COVID restrictions. What was a one-night, in-person event morphed into a six-week restaurant tour from April 11 to May 26 of Rams Head, Opa Tavern, Split Rail Tavern and Slow Hand. All four participating restaurants offered a free signature appetizer to patrons taking part in Chef's Best. A ticket entitled diners to one coupon for each of the four restaurants on the tour and the opportunity to vote for the "Best of Chef's Best."

This year's event raised thousands of dollars for ACT in Faith, and the interfaith organization is looking forward to returning to its single-night event in 2023.

ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester seeks to empower unemployed and underemployed West Chester-area residents to stabilize their households and build toward sustainability. Services provided by ACT in Faith include eviction prevention, utility shut-off prevention and employment support services, as well as personal care and household items, food staples and homemade frozen meals available to all shoppers at its Community Cupboard.

Chef's Best 2022 lead sponsors are Gawthrop Greenwood and FPA Wealth Management.
