Recreation Economy Summit Scheduled

The Susquehanna Riverlands Recreation Economy Summit will take place on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 8 to 10 a.m. The event will be held at Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, 41 Walnut St., Columbia. The summit is geared toward elected officials, municipal employees, and individuals involved with an outfitter, trail, environmental, and/or cultural organization.

Attendees will join the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), the Lancaster Conservancy, and the Susquehanna National Heritage Area for presentations from outdoor recreation professionals Nathan Reigner, Pennsylvania's first director of outdoor recreation, and Silas Chamberlin from the York County Economic Alliance. They will learn more about sustainable economic development through the development of outdoor recreation amenities. The summit will feature presentations and discussion about the importance of public investments in parks, trails, open space, and recreation facilities on the local economy along the Susquehanna Riverlands in York and Lancaster counties.
