Renaissance Faire Plans 41st Season

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire will start a new season on Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Mount Hope Estate and Winery, located on Route 72 one-half mile south of Pennsylvania Turnpike Exit 266. This year's event will be set in the year 1585.

The stages located throughout the 35-acre Faire site will offer a variety of entertainment. The members of the Faire's professional and apprentice casts will be featured in shows, and there will be Royal Performances featuring new entertainment as well. Each weekend of the Faire season will celebrate a different theme by adding entertainment and events to the daily Revels Schedule. Themed weekends and their specific events are listed at http://www.parenfaire.com/themedweekends.html.

The Faire will continue to be a dog-friendly event. In advance of their visit, pet owners must complete the online registration form and waiver. Once the forms have been reviewed and approved, the owner will receive an email with a direct link to purchase advance, date-specific dog pass tickets.

The Royal Kitchens will serve various menu items, including turkey legs, burgers, macaroni and cheese and new items such as gourmet grilled cheese and baked potatoes. Bartenders at the Shire Pourhouses will serve Mount Hope Estate's own Swashbuckler Brewing Company beer, Lancaster County Cider products and Mount Hope wines and cocktails. There will also be a new "Just Whiskey" Booth.

With the return to more normal operations, the Faire Day Pub Crawl will once again be offered to adults age 21 and over. Each Faire day, the Pub Crawl will leave from the Informistress at 4:45 p.m. Tickets are available for an additional fee that must be paid in advance only through the Faire's online box office. The price includes four samples of beer or cider, a souvenir tasting glass, a soft pretzel and specialty entertainments. Guests must have a 2021 date-specific admission ticket for the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire to access the Pub Crawl.

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire will operate from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through Sunday, Oct. 31, as well as on Labor Day, Monday, Aug. 21. Tickets are date specific and must be purchased through the Faire's online box office in advance. No tickets will be sold on-site.

There will be separate admission fees for adults and for children ages 5 to 11. Children age 4 and under will be admitted for free. Parking is free. Games, rides, food, beverages and merchant wares have additional costs. Visit http://www.parenfaire.com for show schedules, cast descriptions, menus, merchant listings and admission tickets.
