Resources For Teenagers Posted

Samaritan Counseling Center reminds community members that it offers resources to help support teenagers on their journey toward mental health and wellness.

Among these resources is TeenHope, a mental health program that screens middle and high school students at Lancaster County schools for anxiety, depression, and suicide risk. After youths are identified as at-risk, TeenHope collaborates with parent and teenagers to connect them with mental health resources in the area through referral recommendations. Since the program's beginning in 2013, more than 13,000 students have been screened.

Due to an increase in the number of local teenagers at risk for anxiety, depression, and suicide in Lancaster County in the last year, as well as the virtual schooling that has occurred during the pandemic, TeenHope is developing a fully digital screening process. The transition to digital has been fueled by the donations of many individual supporters, as well as local organizations such as the High Foundation, which contributed a $15,000 grant, and LOHF, which provided a total of $30,000 in grants.
