Rotary Club Honors Gilley, Henne

Lancaster South Rotary Club recently honored Skylar Gilley as the Student of the Month for April and Kyler Henne as the Student of the Month for May. The students were presented to the club by Robert Dangler, assistant superintendent of the Solanco School District. Students of the Month are selected on the basis of academic excellence as well as school and community service.

Skylar, a sophomore at Solanco High School, is the granddaughter of Deborah Lunney of Quarryville. She was awarded a Solanco Core Expectations award for responsibility, and she tutors other students. Skylar played volleyball and softball while in middle school. She performs volunteer work in the community. Her future plans include further schooling for culinary arts.

Kyler, a junior at Solanco High School, is the son of Steve and Bernadette Henne of New Providence. He has consistently achieved honor roll recognition and is a member of the National Honor Society and president of the Class of 2023. Kyler is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Link Crew, and the Solanco Core Expectation and Renaissance programs. He has received perfect attendance and character awards. In the community, Kyler volunteers at Quarryville Elementary School, Solanco Ophelia Day and the Feed My Starving Children food drive. Kyler plans to attend college with the goal of becoming a financial accountant.
