Rotary Club Honors Students of the Month

The Twin Valley Rotary Club has selected Twin Valley High School (TVHS) students Canaan Toothman and Sarah Lerch as its Students of the Month for October.

Each month during the school year, the Twin Valley Rotary Club honors two students of the month from TVHS. The seniors are selected by guidance counselors, teachers and staff members at the school.

Canaan is a member of the Twin Valley Mountain Biking Team, where he has competed on the varsity team for the past two years. During his sophomore year at TVHS, he earned first place in the state of Pennsylvania in mountain biking and 15th in the U.S. Eastern region in his age bracket.

Outside of school, Canaan is an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and will soon receive the rank of Eagle Scout, the program's highest achievement.

Canaan has a strong interest in engineering, woodworking, and welding and enjoys designing and building projects that challenge him to combine creativity and technical skill. After high school, he plans to enlist in the United States Army, where he hopes to gain experience, strengthen his leadership abilities and earn a college education. His future goals include studying welding engineering at Pennsylvania College of Technology or attending the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Sarah currently serves as co-overall of Mini-THON, vice president of the National Honor Society, vice president of the Technology Student Association and treasurer of the Spanish Honor Society.

Sarah is a member of the Student Council, High School Heroes and History Club and was named to the homecoming court. Throughout her high school years, she has competed on the soccer, cross-country, golf and track teams.

Academically, Sarah has challenged herself by taking several AP courses, including Calc AB, Calc BC, Biology, Physics C: Mechanics, English Language, English Literature, U.S. History, Psychology and others. She maintains a 4.542 GPA and is the current salutatorian of her class.

Outside of the classroom, she is working toward her Private Pilot License at the Chester County Airport. Sarah's lifelong dream is to attend the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Her ultimate goal is to become a pilot in the United States Air Force.
