Ethan Benne and Molly Bushong, seniors at Penn Manor High School, have been selected as Lancaster South Rotary Club's Students of the Month for December. They were presented to the club by Doug Eby, principal of Penn Manor High School. Students of the Month are selected on the basis of academic excellence as well as school and community service.

Molly is the daughter of Jim and Kerry Bushong of Pequea. Molly is vice president of the Math National Honor Society, a member of the National Honor Society, a Link Crew leader, a student ambassador, and an after-school instruction tutor. As a freshman and sophomore, she was involved with the Penn Manor student technology help desk. Molly was a regional winner of the Aspirations in Computing award, an AP Scholar, and a participant in the American Mathematics Competition during 11th and 12th grades. She has consistently been named to the honor roll and has received numerous principal's and Student of the Month awards. In the community, Molly has competed on the LEDC Competitive Dance Team for the past 10 years. She volunteers at the Loft Community Partnership and Toys for Tots. Molly plans to attend college to major in biochemistry and cell biology, with the goal of becoming a family physician and establishing her own medical practice. She would like to become an influential woman in STEM.

Ethan is the son of Kayla Benne-Shindle and Joe Shindle. Ethan is a member of the Penn Manor basketball team, Comet Nation, Link Crew, and the pingpong club, and he is a comet boy. Ethan is a two-time Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 basketball First Team All-Star, an LNP First Team All-Star, and a Section 1 scoring leader. In the community, Ethan is an assistant seventh-grade basketball coach and a comet ambassador. He plans to attend Millersville University to study sports psychology and play basketball. He would like to play basketball overseas and then work with collegiate and professional athletes to help them learn to help themselves and their minds.
