Plans are in the works for the 22nd annual Rothsville Community Day, to be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Forney Field, Church Street, Rothsville. The event will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with a 5K Fun Run/Walk sponsored by WellSpan Family and Pediatric Medicine - Rothsville. Registration for the run will begin at 9 a.m. at Forney Field. Proceeds from the registration fee will benefit WellSpan's Patient Support Fund, which provides assistance to patients in need of non-medical items and services to help them achieve and maintain better health.

In addition to the 5K, a variety of free activities, including competitions, food and kids' games, will be available starting at 10 a.m. The helicopter candy drop, sponsored by the Rothsville Ambulance Association, will take place at 10:45 a.m.; this activity is open to all children age 12 and under. The barrel train ride will also return. Children may bring their teddy bears for a checkup at the Teddy Bear Clinic hosted by WellSpan Family and Pediatric Medicine - Rothsville.

Officers of the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police will be on hand for a meet-and-greet.

DRAMAministry will deliver a theatrical presentation at 11:30 a.m. For more details about the group, visit http://www.dramateam.org.

Additionally, a "Birds of Prey" raptor show will be presented by Miller's Wildlife & Conservation Specialists at 1 p.m. Founded in 2019 by Patrick Miller, the organization's mission is to foster an appreciation for all things wild.

Community Day will include an egg toss at 12:15 p.m. and a pie-eating contest at 2 p.m. The contests will feature two age groups: children and adults.

Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day, as well.

In conjunction with this event, the nature trails at Millport Conservancy, 737 E. Millport Road, Lititz, will be open to the public from dawn until dusk.

Rothsville Community Day is organized by the Rothsville Fire Company and the Rothsville Ambulance Association along with the following area churches: Jerusalem Lutheran, Millport Mennonite, St. Paul's Evangelical Congregational and Salem United Methodist. Support is also provided by many area businesses.
