Run and walk event to help fight kidney disease

The Chasing a Cure 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, Aug. 25, rain or shine. Proceeds will benefit NephCure Kidney International, a nonprofit with a focus on finding the cause of rare kidney diseases and a cure for these diseases.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m., and the walk will start at 9 a.m. The walk will start and end at VK Brewing Co. & Eatery, 693 Lincoln Highway East (Route 30), Exton. The walk will enter Chester Valley Trail from Ship Road and head east. Lunch will be provided after the run by VK Brewing Co. & Eatery.

The 5K is organized by Beth Ann Foeppel and her son Chase Gallagher, who at the age of 8 was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease known as C3G. The disease ran its course, and at the age of 20, Gallagher had a kidney transplant. He and his family held the first Chasing a Cure 5K on Aug. 26, 2022, the one-year anniversary of Gallagher's transplant.
