School Announces Science Fair Winners

St. John Neumann Catholic School (SJNCS) held its annual Science Fair with all of its eighth-grade students participating. The students conducted scientific experiments using the scientific method and presented their findings to judges from the local community.

Selected winners will represent SJNCS in the North Museum Science & Engineering Fair to be held on Thursday, March 12, at Millersville University. Projects were divided into three categories with a combination of different types of sciences.

Category 100 winners were Gavin Raudabaugh, first place, How Do Different Surface Types Affect Ball Bounce and Roll?; Chance Kaplan, second place, What Type of Soil Holds the Most Water?; and Owen Cellucci, third place, Which Type of Baseball Bat Has the Highest Exit Velocity?

Category 200 winners were Victoria Richter, first place, Can Plants Stop Soil Erosion?; Amelia Ginder, second place, What is the Best Home Product to Use on a Stain?; and Kimmy Nguyen, third place, Do White Candles Burn Faster Than Colored Candles?

Winners in Category 300 were Marleigh Hockley, first place, What Form of Tylenol Dissolves the Fastest?; Samuel Stefanow, second place, What is the Safest and Strongest Bridge Design?; and Nate Zuschmidt, third place, Does the Artificial Color of a Fire Affect Its Heat?
