School Announces Virtue Awards

The SSBVM Virtue Awards are awarded monthly at Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary School in Middletown. These awards highlight a different virtue, such as kindness, diligence and patience, each month. The purpose of the award is to encourage members of the entire student body to be mindful of their actions and exemplify traits of that virtue throughout the month and beyond. Nominations are submitted by the teaching team, with examples of the nominees' altruism in action.

"Diligence" was October's SSBVM Virtue of the Month. The following SSBVM students were honored for exemplifying this virtue: kindergarten - Drew Guy; first grade - Lily Sides; second grade - Emmanuel Melendrez; third grade - Chris Nagassou; fourth grade - Dequan Holloway; fifth grade - Celia Bolesky; sixth grade - Falda Nagassou; seventh grade - Linda Cruz; and eighth grade - Ella Simon. The staff member who earned the award for October was Amy Mayer, middle school math and science teacher.

Presenting the awards were principal Angela Warner and the Rev. Tim Sahd, pastor of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.
