School Holds Feathers for Families Program

Elizabethtown Area Middle School recently held its Feathers for Families campaign, raising $5,738 to provide Thanksgiving meals to families in the community. Due to the generosity of students, staff members, and supporters, the school assembled and delivered 21 complete Thanksgiving baskets, each filled with all the ingredients needed for a holiday meal.

Now in its 29th year, Feathers for Families has grown since it began in 1995, when the school raised $750 during its first campaign. Continuing the tradition, students and staff members purchased paper feathers throughout November, building a colorful paper turkey in the school's food court as a visual celebration of kindness and giving.

The funds raised are used to purchase all food items at a local grocery store, ensuring each basket reflects the needs of families in the community. Students take an active role in the process, from buying feathers to shopping for the ingredients themselves to assembling the baskets and partnering with faculty and staff to deliver them with care.
