Scouts Test Skills At "Pandemic Prep Klondike"

Terre Hill Boy Scout Troop 172 recently participated in the Pandemic Prep Klondike event at Camp Mack, sponsored by Conestoga River District, part of Boy Scouts of America's Pennsylvania Dutch Council. Held over the weekend of Feb. 12 to 14, the Klondike drew a total of 21 patrols from 12 area troops.

Leading up to the weekend, Scouts prepared their gear and sleds to work through 11 stations set up throughout the woods. Stations tested Scouts on various skills and knowledge, such as fire building, first aid, knots, compass skills, and teamwork. Scouts could earn up to 20 points at each station along with bonus points.

Two patrols from Troop 172 participated. The QuarinTeamers, consisting of Isaiah Hansen, Caleb Myers, and Hunter Weaver, placed first overall with a score of 224 and also took home the first-place award for their themed flag and the third-place honor for patrol spirit. The Sanitizer Squad, consisting of Andrew Herman, Eric Schwab, and Logan Sheehan, placed first for their themed sled.
