SECA Plans Activities

Southern End Community Association (SECA) has planned several programs.

Boys and girls ages 5 to 15 may participate in a SECA Youth Flag Football League. The registration deadline is Sunday, Feb. 21. Games will be played on Sundays from March through April in Memorial Park, located along Park Avenue and South Lime Street. SECA is in need of volunteers to coach and a league coordinator.

An Adult Basketball League will be available for people age 16 and up. This is a five-on-five, full-court competitive basketball league. The season will run from late January to the end of April, with games held on Tuesday nights at the gym of Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, 1392 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville.

Two sports programs will be offered for preschool-age children in the Mechanic Grove Church gym. These programs are meant to offer children sports experiences without the pressure of competition and with decreased possibility of injury.

Little Hoopers is a sports program for children ages 3 to 6. Participants will learn the fundamentals of basketball, including dribbling, shooting and passing. This program will take place on Thursdays, Feb. 4 to March 4, from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.

Total Little Sports aims to prepare children from 3 to 6 years old for organized sports. Children will have opportunities to try basketball, soccer, baseball, football and tennis. Classes will be held from 5:30 to 6:15 on Thursdays, March 18 to April 22, with no class on April 1.
