Selfie Wall Unveiled In West Chester

A new selfie wall was recently unveiled at Safe Harbor of Chester County, 20 N. Matlock St., West Chester. Benchmark Federal Credit Union, which serves Chester County, is donating 25 cents to Safe Harbor of Chester County for each selfie wall photo posted to social media that tags @BenchmarkFCU and includes the hashtag #ForLifesBenchmarks.

West Chester Mayor Lillian DeBaptiste and state Rep. Dianne Herrin joined Safe Harbor and Benchmark Federal Credit Union at a ribbon cutting to unveil the selfie wall, which displays three pairs of wings to symbolize Safe Harbor's mission to provide emergency housing, food, and access to services for neighbors in need. Benchmark and Safe Harbor commissioned artist Stefanie Birl of Birl Girl Designs to create the wall.

Safe Harbor is a nonprofit organization that aims to provide a structured environment for single men and single women experiencing homelessness in Chester County. Launching at its current location in 1994, Safe Harbor of Chester County is open 365 days per year and remained open during the pandemic. It also provides a community lunch program six days a week. Its mission is accomplished through its staff members and board of directors, as well as more than 400 volunteers. In addition to Safe Harbor of Chester County, Benchmark Federal Credit Union supports more than 20 community events and organizations in Chester County each year, including Chester County Futures, the Chester County Single Mothers' Conference, and the Crime Victims Center of Chester County.
