Senior center plans activities

Susquehanna Area Senior Center/CONNECT, 2427 Craley Road, Wrightsville, has planned activities. The drop-in community center's primary mission is to promote the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual well-being of senior adults living in the community. Daily programming is offered for active, independent adults age 60 and up.

Meals are available daily from 10:15 to 11 a.m. either to eat at the senior center or to take home. Meals must be reserved two business days in advance. Frozen meals are available to take home as well.

The senior center often cooks soups and other hearty comfort foods and makes them available to those who need a meal. The center work with food banks and has food deliveries twice a month; signups are required.

A trip to Virginia Beach, Colonial Williamsburg and Historic Norfolk will take place from Monday, May 6, to Friday, May 10. The excursion will include a guided tour of Colonial Williamsburg, a narrated cruise in Norfolk Naval Base harbor, and visits to the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, the Nauticus and Battleship Wisconsin, the Mariners' Museum and Park, Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. The fee includes motorcoach transportation, four breakfasts and four dinners, admission fees, and four nights' lodging in Virginia Beach.

A trip to New Orleans will be offered from Saturday, Oct. 12, to Sunday, Oct. 20. The trip will feature a guided tour of the city, a guided tour of a plantation, a riverboat cruise on the Mississippi River and visits to the National WWII Museum, Mardi Gras World and the historic French Quarter. The fee includes eight nights' lodging, eight breakfasts and six dinners, and more.

The senior center has planned a variety of other activities for February and March.

A Valentine's High Tea will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the Lancaster County Career & Technology Center in Mount Joy. The fee includes the meal and transportation.

The senior center will host a Valentine's Dinner Dance on Friday, Feb. 16, in the social hall. The meal will include baked chicken, ham, green beans, potatoes, other vegetables and dessert. The band Timeless will provide music for dancing. There is a fee.

A trip to the State Museum of Pennsylvania will be offered on Wednesday, Feb. 21. The fee includes transportation and admission. There will be a meal stop.

The senior center will offer a trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show on Wednesday, March 6. The fee includes transportation and admission. Those with mobility issues may rent a scooter or bring their own.

A performance of "The Wizard of Oz" will be held on Thursday, March 7, at Donegal High School. There is a fee for transportation and a suggested donation for the show.

The senior center will offer a farm-to-table experience at Mount Hope Estates and a tour of Kreider Farms on Wednesday, March 13. There is a fee.
