Senior fitness event planned

Lititz recCenter will celebrate National Senior Health & Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 31, with a variety of activities tailored to active older adults in the community. The program will be hosted free of charge for senior citizens. No registration is required to attend.

Free fitness assessments will be offered by certified trainers and instructors at Lititz recCenter between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Assessments will help participants understand their current strengths and areas for improvement in functional fitness, balance, coordination and flexibility, agility and endurance.

Seniors can sample group fitness classes that are offered each week at the recCenter. Three classes will be hosted free of charge on May 31, including Silver Strong at 8:15 a.m. and Gentle Yoga at 9:45 a.m. Participants are encouraged to attend in comfortable clothing and athletic shoes. A Senior Water Exercise class will be available at 10:45 a.m. in the indoor pool. Locker room facilities will be available.

Seniors are also invited to visit the pickleball courts in the recCenter gymnasiums to experience the game of pickleball. Paddles and balls will be available for participants to play pickleball between noon and 2 p.m.

On May 31, Lititz recCenter will offer a discount on new one-year memberships. A variety of membership options are available to all community members. Residents of Lititz Borough, Warwick Township and Elizabeth Township benefit from a resident discount.
