Shop for bargains at Spring Fling

Spring Fling is an annual tradition at Wrightsville Hope United Methodist Church, and the event will continue this year on Saturday, May 20. It will start at 8 a.m. at the church, 404 Hellam St.

Spring Fling will include a rummage sale, a plant sale, food and more. "We will have plants of all kinds and yard ornaments; rummage items, including clothing and some shoes and some accessories; books; puzzles; and plenty of food," said Phil Lehman, yard sale stand organizer. The food will include hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, chicken corn soup and drinks. A variety of baked goods, including pies, will be for sale as well. Children's activities will also be featured, and Studio 12 dance team will perform.

Along with the rummage sale set up by the church, members of the community are invited to rent a space for their own yard sale table, Lehman stated.

Proceeds from the event will be used for church renovation projects and general fund expenses of the church, as well as to support mission projects.

In addition to being a fundraiser, Spring Fling is a fun community event, Lehman shared. "This event over the years has brought out people from the community just to have a good time and have good conversation," he remarked. He recommends coming early to get the best selection, noting that plants especially sell out quickly.

Wrightsville Hope United Methodist Church is home to Phoebe's Closet, a community clothing bank, as well as the Eastern York Food Pantry. The church holds services on Sundays at 9 a.m. Vacation Bible school will be held on Sunday, July 16, through Thursday, July 20, with the theme "Hero Hotline."
