Shop Local At A Craft And Vendor Show

"This is a great way for people to start their Christmas shopping - or even to finish their Christmas shopping," said Stacy Moore, describing the Craft and Vendor Show she's organizing at Durham School Services. "We will have a wide variety of items."

The Craft and Vendor Show will be held at Durham School Services, 2202 S. Market St., Elizabethtown, on Saturday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"We'll have vendors like Scentsy and Thirty-One Gifts, and then we'll have people who make their own crafts," Moore stated. "We'll have an essential oil vendor, somebody who does woodworking, someone who crochets, someone who makes cocoa bombs. It's really a little bit of everything."

Food and beverages will also be for sale at the event, including hot dogs, chili, chips and soda.

Moore said the idea for the show came about after a group of Durham employees started planning for their participation in the GEARS holiday parade, which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 11.

"There are about 10 of us on the committee, and we were looking for a way to raise funds for our float and also for our Christmas party," she noted, adding that other coordinators of the craft show include Lynn Roden, Victoria Herneisen and Grace Minnich. "We found out that Durham used to do a craft show years ago, and we thought this would be a great way to not only raise some money, but also to support local crafters and vendors."

The committee put an invitation to participate out on Facebook, and the response was overwhelmingly positive, Moore shared. "We got a great response right away," she stated, "and we have room for more vendors if people are interested in participating."

The Craft and Vendor Show will be held outside at Durham, with the food served indoors. Moore encourages people to follow the event on Facebook for updates in the case of inclement weather.

"I hope people will come out to the show and see all the cool things that are out there that people are making and selling," she said. "You're going to see things you haven't seen other places, and you can pick up some unique gifts. It's also a great way for local people to showcase what they're making and to help local vendors as we go into the holidays."
