Show will highlight heritage crafts

"We may be a smaller craft show, but we are excited about our diverse vendor lineup this year," said Malinda Miller, digital media manager for the Winters Heritage House Museum. The site will host its annual Elizabethtown Heritage Craft Show on Friday, Nov. 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the museum, 47 E. High St., Elizabethtown.

"The Elizabethtown Heritage Craft Show offers the unique opportunity to shop quality handcrafted items in Elizabethtown's historic log homes," Miller noted. "There's something for everyone, even your furry friend."

Vendors will sell a diverse selection of items, including jellies and jams, tarts and pastries by Manchester Teas & Tarts, hand-forged iron pieces, lathe turnings, stained glass, soap, candles, home decor, jewelry, dog treats, paper crafts and doll clothes. "Hot dogs, soup and beverages will be available for purchase, and attendees can bid to win some great gift certificates and items from local business and restaurants," Miller said.

The show will also feature a "100% room," with items created and contributed by the museum's in-house quilting, textile, garden and craft groups. All proceeds from the sale of items in the room go direcly to the museum. "In addition to the beautiful Christmas quilt they have for sale, the quilt group will be selling wall hangings, table runners, placemat sets, ornaments and many other small gift items," Miller shared. "The craft group has contributed unique felted soap in adorable patterns. All of these sales will directly benefit the preservation of the log homes and its educational programs."

This is the 33rd year for the craft show, which serves an important role for the museum, said director Teresa St. Angelo. "We continue hosting this event year after year because the Winters Heritage House believes in the importance of preserving heritage crafts and supporting local businesses, especially those with handmade items," she explained. "Offering local artists and artisans a spot to sell the items they've created is one way to support them and the work that they do. Plus, the Heritage Craft Show continues to be a popular event that the community looks forward to every year."

Admission to the craft show is by cash donation or a nonperishable food item or hygiene item for the Community Cupboard of Elizabethtown. The admission fee will be waived after noon on Nov. 11. "Cash donations contribute to history preservation and the Heritage House's many educational and outreach programs that serve the Elizabethtown area," Miller stated. "Attendees bringing an item for the Community Cupboard are encouraged to check their Facebook page for their most-needed items."
