Soccer Players Receive Awards

The Lancaster-Lebanon League girls' soccer banquet was held on Nov. 21, and five Solanco players were recognized. Seniors Rilyn Saner and Maya Dolan received Section Three First Team honors, while Alanna Brown and Hannah Wood were Second Team selections and Caroline Drumm was an Academic All-Star.

Saner led the team with eight assists and was a team captain, along with Dolan, who finished the season with five goals and one assist. Brown, who scored twice and dished out one assist, filled in anywhere she was needed on the field. Wood, a four-year starter at center back, was also a team captain. "Hannah was a leader on a defense that only allowed 16 goals in 18 regular-season games," pointed out coach Matt Jansen.

Drumm, the goalkeeper this year, compiled seven shutouts. "Caroline came up with big saves down the stretch as we secured a spot in district playoffs," Jansen said.

At their end-of-the-year banquet, award winners were also recognized. Dolan was named MVP. Josie Janssen, a sophomore, was the Offensive Player of the Year, while Wood was the Defensive Player of the Year. Brown, Saner, and senior and captain Kendall Janssen also received Coaches' Choice Awards.

Junior varsity award winners included Mia Daniel-Morales as MVP. Aubrey Bickford was Offensive Player of the Year, Courtney Sellers was Defensive Player of the Year, and Emma Housekeeper and Madi Kut received the Coaches' Choice Award.
