Solanco 4-H Club Wraps Up Season

Solanco 4-H Community Club members participated in a variety of activities this year. The club's season ran from March to July.

At the March meeting, club members signed up for various projects and received information about the club's activities for the year. At the April meeting, Lisa Sanchez from Lancaster County Department of Parks and Recreation presented a program on edible plants.

In the May meeting, the club members switched between two stations where they made cloud slime and decorated coin banks. Members were asked to collect change in their banks for purchasing items to send to hurricane victims in North Carolina, which was the club's community service project. Club members brought their filled banks to the June meeting, which also featured a paint night with Jenny Steffy from Penn Manor. Steffy provided a step-by-step guide to creating a sunset painting.

The club showcase was held at the July meeting to wrap up the season. Members brought their completed projects and books to be judged by the project leaders. The meeting also included a dessert social, and members were encouraged to enter their projects in the Solanco Fair and the West Lampeter Fair.

Anyone interested in participating in 4-H in 2026 may contact the county 4-H office at 717-394-6851.
