Speaker To Share About Trolley

The Solanco Historical Society will hold its next program on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 1:30 p.m. at the society's archives building, located across from the Robert Fulton Birthplace at 1932 Robert Fulton Highway (Route 222), Quarryville. The program is free and open to the public.

Mark W. Arbogast will present "The Trolley to Strasburg and Early Strasburg Views." Arbogast will show early postcards of the trolley that ran from Lancaster city to Willow Street and Strasburg. Viewers will see a map of the trolley route, including the surprising trolley route at Willow Street. The talk will include early views of the town of Strasburg, most from postcards dating from 1910 to 1930. Arbogast will also share information about the early part of the Strasburg Rail Road and its depot at the east end of Strasburg.

Arbogast is a retired PPL land manager who worked at the Holtwood and Brunner Island power plant projects. He has an interest in local history and is a postcard collector.
