SSBVM holds Multicultural Celebration

The community at Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary (SSBVM) Catholic School in Middletown came together for a colorful celebration of cultural heritage during the school's annual Multicultural Celebration on Nov. 21. From classrooms filled with traditional attire and decor to an evening of interactive exhibits and performances, the event showcased the rich diversity that makes up the SSBVM family.

The day began with Multicultural Dress-Up Day, where students and staff members donned clothing and colors representing their cultural backgrounds. Hallways and classrooms were transformed into a tapestry of global traditions, sparking conversations about heritage and history.

The highlight of the festivities, the Multicultural Night Celebration, welcomed school families to a journey "around the world." Families were given a "passport" and "global map" in the gym to begin their trip through the school halls. During their self-guided tour, they explored exhibits and presentations set up throughout the school. From sampling international cuisine to learning traditional dances, attendees immersed themselves in a variety of cultures.

Staff members, teachers and parents worked to organize the evening, along with the students who prepared displays and offered performances. SSBVM plans to continue the annual event.
