Step Into a Sweetheart Candyland

A winter evening in Elizabethtown is about to get a whole lot brighter - and a whole lot sweeter as well. On Friday, Feb. 13, girls and their fathers or other male role models may step out of the February cold and into a real-life Candyland, complete with vibrant colors, oversized sweets, music, dancing and just enough sparkle to make the night feel magical.

GEARS will transform Salon 1 at Masonic Village into a candy-colored world of imagination for its annual Daddy/Daughter Dance. The event is designed to help families slow down, laugh together and make memories that linger long after the last song plays.

"This event is more than just a dance. It is a chance to celebrate and get together as a community," shared Erin Thomas, special events coordinator for GEARS. "There are activities for everyone, not just dancing!"

The dance will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Salon 1 at Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown.

"This year's theme is the Daddy/Daughter  'Sweetheart' Dance," Thomas said, noting that people can expect a colorful, immersive atmosphere. "I plan to bring Candyland to life! This theme allows for lots of colorful decorations and (oversized) candy. Valentine's Day isn't just about love; it's about candy, too."

Along with the candy theme, the party will feature DJ entertainment by Occasions Disc Jockeys, dancing, guest appearances by Princess Belle and Adam (the prince the Beast turns into), face painting, Valentine's Day crafts and light refreshments. One professional photo per girl will be provided by Youth Sports Photo.

Girls of all ages are welcome to attend with their father or another male role model age 18 or older. In past years, participants have ranged in age from toddlers to teenagers, typically between 1 and 14 years old.

Now in its 16th year, the Daddy/Daughter Dance has become one of GEARS' most anticipated and well-loved annual events.

"Each year, countless families eagerly anticipate this magical event," Thomas remarked. "GEARS is dedicated to offering a diverse array of exceptional family bonding experiences, and the Daddy/Daughter Dance stands out as one of our most popular and well-attended celebrations."

She said attendees enjoy not only spending time with their family members, but also absorbing the festive atmosphere and meaningful impact of the evening.

"This event provides a unique opportunity to witness the heartwarming connection between fathers and daughters as they create lasting memories together," Thomas shared.

Tickets must be ordered in advance for the dance. The ticket order deadline is Friday, Feb. 6. To reserve tickets, visit http://www.getintogears.org/special-events or call 717-367-0355.
