Student places second in state Braille competition

Lower Dauphin Middle School eighth-grader Maddox "Max" Dalyai took second place in a Braille Challenge this year competing against seventh- through ninth-graders from across the state. Max placed second in the challenge in his age group, which tested students on speed and accuracy, reading comprehension, spelling, charts and graphs and proofreading.

The Braille Challenge is an academic competition for students who are blind or visually impaired. The Braille Institute launched the program in 2000 to motivate students to hone their Braille literacy skills to enable academic and employment success.
