Students earn Scholastic Art Awards

Four Lower Dauphin High School students received gold recognition in the annual Scholastic Art Awards competition.

Senior Liam Seitz won six Gold Keys and was nominated for an American Visions Award. His painting "Don't Drop Your Birkenstocks" made him one of five students regionally who received an American Visions Award nomination for having a Gold Key work with an original authentic vision. His other Gold Key winners were the paintings "The Fleeting of My Youth," "The Day I Got My License," and "Just Look Away," along with the ceramics piece "Spikey Set" and his art portfolio "Impressions of a Small Town."

Senior Alexis Hill also won a Gold Key for the photo "Starfire" and an honorable mention for the photo "Boundaries Broken."

Senior Maxx McGuigan won a Gold Key for the mixed media artwork "Big Bones."

Junior Emma Stephens won a Gold Key in photography for "Transformation" and a Silver Key in photography for "Loneliness."

Also earning honorable mention honors were Evvy Adams for paintings "More Than Meets the Eye," "Christmas Eve, 2008" and "The Elusive Image of Man"; Braylee Klinter for her ceramics "Yin-Yang Koi"; Alexia Kouletsis for the paintings "Bottled Up" and "Paradise"; and Leo Speck for "I Will Value Myself," entered in the drawing and illustration category.
