Students Of The Month Named

Lower Dauphin High School seniors Katherine Estes and Conor Grubb were recently named Students of the Month for September by the Rotary Club of Hummelstown.

Katherine is the daughter of Nathan and Stephanie Estes. She has been a starting defender on the girls' soccer team for the past two seasons and a team member for four. She is a four-year member of the choral program and is a soprano 2 in the Chamber Singers. She is a four-year member of the spring musical, playing a Who in last year's production of "Seussical." She is secretary and a four-year member of Class Council. Katie is a two-year member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society and Math Honor Society. She is a team leader and three-year member of the Science National Honor Society as well as a one-year member of the National English Honor Society. In the community, she is working on her Eagle Scout rank in Scouts BSA and has served in leadership roles in her troop. She hopes to attend Penn State's Schreyer Honors College and major in pre-medicine with the career goal of becoming a physician.

Conor is the son of Steven Grubb and Amy Clark-Grubb. He is a four-year member of the high school's choral music program, serving as baritone section leader in the Chamber Singers and in the men's a capella group. He is a four-year member of the spring musical, playing Judge Yertle the Turtle in last year's production of "Seussical." He is a four-year member of Class Council and has been class president all four years. He is a team leader and three-year member of the Science National Honor Society. Conor is president and a four-year member of the History Honor Society. He is also a three-year member of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society and the German National Honor Society. In addition, he is a four-year member of the track and field team. In the community, Conor is active in the Hummelstown Area Historical Society. He plans to attend a four-year college and is considering a career in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
