Students of the Month recognized

Paradise Rotary Club has named its Students of the Month for March. The honorees are Samantha Radwanski from Conestoga Valley High School, Simeon Spurrier from Lancaster Mennonite High School, and Abigail Beiler from Pequea Valley High School. They are all juniors. Students of the Month are recommended by their school guidance department or principal or by a faculty or staff member on the basis of significant achievement as well as good character and citizenship.

Samantha Radwanski is the daughter of Mary Proctor and Michael Radwanski of Leola. Samantha, an honor roll student, is treasurer for IMPACT, secretary of the drama department, and a member of WLA, SADD, and the girls' junior varsity tennis team. She has been performing on stage since she was 3. She has been in five productions in her school's drama department since freshman year and served as the assistant student director for "Clue." She also helps build sets for the productions. Samantha is a member of the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy. For the group's project in December, participants went to the elementary schools to donate and read books to the preschool classes.

Simeon Spurrier is the son of Matthew and Leslie Spurrier of Lititz. He is the captain of the quiz bowl team and was a member of the team that placed third in "Brain Busters." He is also a member of National Honor Society (NHS) and the Student Ambassador Committee. Simeon participates in the theater program, having served as an actor in five shows, props assistant for "Godspell," and a scriptwriter for "Rhythm of Life" and "Stop Time." He was recognized for earning the best freshman and sophomore scores in the Pennsylvania Math League School Competition. He also won a Gold Key in the regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, a Silver Medal in the national Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, honorable mention in the Latin American Alliance Poetry Competition, honorable mention in the Mennonite Central Committee National Essay Contest, and first place in a poetry contest organized by Silhouette, a magazine at his school. He also received a Lancaster Mennonite Alumni Award. Simeon volunteers at the Lititz Public Library.

Abigail Beiler is the daughter of Chandon and Rachel Beiler of Gap. She is secretary of FFA, class archivist, and a member of NHS, Student Council, the cross-country team, the softball team, Varsity Club, Mini-THON, prom committee, Tribe, and Spring Fling committee. She has also been involved in performing or visual arts activities. Her agricultural communications team placed first at the state level and qualified to compete at the national level; she also received silver level honors for her individual performance at the national competition. She was named a Section 3 second team All-Star for cross-country. Abigail participates in Bible quizzing at Maple Grove Mennonite Church.
