Students of the Month Recognized

The Paradise Rotary Club has recognized three Students of the Month for April, who are all high school juniors. They are Claire Hackett from Pequea Valley, Gwenyth Unruh from Conestoga Valley, and Feven Workalemahu from Lancaster Mennonite.

Claire is the daughter of Catherine and Kevin Hackett of Paradise. She serves on Student Council as the Food Committee chair and is also part of Mini-THON, the Spring Fling Committee, the Braves Leadership team, and her church's youth group leadership. Claire has been involved with the performing arts, including serving on the stage crew and as the stage manager for various shows throughout high school, and she is a Choir and Chamber singer. She has played soccer since age 4, been a member of the basketball team from eighth to 10th grade, and participated in track in 11th grade. She earned Athlete of the Year in ninth grade and was second in District 3 basketball. Claire has also been named to the first honor roll numerous times and was awarded Learner of the Year in 10th grade.

Gwenyth is the daughter of Jared and Rebecca Unruh of Brownstown. She is a member of National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society and the historian for Tri-M. She is vice president of the concert band and participates in marching band, jazz band, choir, orchestra, and the spring musical. She also serves as the current president of Mock Trial and the current vice president of FOCUS. Gwenyth has also been named to various honor rolls, is a HOBY Ambassador, and received an Honored Woodwind award and the Halfway Award in marching band.

Feven is the daughter of Endale Tilahun and Seble Mengiste. She is a member of the Whole School Charity initiative and the International Student Association, and she is involved in hiking and softball. She is a member of the varsity girls' soccer and basketball teams and runs the 1500 meters, and she was given a special mention for soccer. Feven was named Student of the Month for Chemistry twice, is an Atollo Scholar, earned the Bronze Standard of Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, and received a certificate of achievement for mathematics.
