Students Receive Scholarships

The Kiwanis Club of the Lititz Area presented the Deborah Carter Memorial Key Club Scholarship to three members of the Manheim Township High School Key Club at the June 3 meeting of Kiwanis at Lititz Springs Inn. Kiwanis president Charlie Stickler presented checks for $1,500 to Grace Clawson, Sophie Esbenshade, and Anthony Phan.

The scholarship is named for the late Lititz Kiwanis member Deborah Carter and honors her commitment to education and serving children through Kiwanis. The scholarships are awarded based on service to community, leadership qualities, high school record, educational plans, and dedication to Key Club.

Grace, who plans to attend William & Mary, served as Key Club secretary and president and, as president, grew the membership of the club by 20% to more than 160 members.

Sophie will attend the University of South Carolina. She served as the Pennsylvania Key Club Division 14 lieutenant governor and ran a division-wide service project for Toys for Tots.

Anthony, who will be attending Saint Joseph's University, has volunteered more than 200 service hours as a club and board member.

Key Club is the high school branch of Kiwanis International. For more information about the Kiwanis Club, contact Charlie Stickler at 717-560-2295, email kiwanisclublititz@gmail.com, or visit http://www.lititzkiwanis.org.
