Support groups to meet

Garden Spot Village (GSV), 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, has posted several upcoming support group meetings.

Fellow Travelers in Community, a group for individuals experiencing cognitive changes, will meet at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the GSV theater. The program is free and open to the public. Contact Leslie Hartman at 717-355-6076 for more information.

Dementia Learning: Language Changes, Impact and Communication will be presented by Melody Karick, dementia educator, on Tuesdays, Sept. 17 and Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to noon in the chapel at Meadow View Memory Support, 800 Kraybill Ave., New Holland. The session will help attendees recognize language changes and the impact they have on people living with dementia and others. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required. Compassionate Neighbors in Community, a group for friends or family members of those experiencing cognitive challenges, will meet on Wednesdays, Sept. 18 and Oct. 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the GSV theater. Melody Karick, a certified dementia practitioner, will present the programs. The group is free and open to the community. For more information, call 717-355-6076.

Parkinson's Friends in Community, a group for individuals with Parkinson's disease and their friends and families, will meet on Monday, Sept. 23, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the GSV Garden Towers. Karick will discuss "Ten Healthy Habits for Your Brain." The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call Jenny Snyder at 717-355-6259.

Brothers and Sisters in Support (BASIS), a monthly group for parents and grandparents who have experienced the loss of a child or grandchild, will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 7 to 8 p.m. For more information, contact group leader Dan Steinman at 717-859-4777. The gathering is free and open to the public.

Low Vision Friends in Community will meet on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 3 to 4 p.m. in the GSV Garden Towers. Special guest Ed Martin of Enhanced Vision will demonstrate visual aids and technology. The program is free and open to the public. Contact Julie Umstead at 717-355-6171 for more information.

Care Partner Friends in Community, a group for family caregivers of people with dementia and Alzheimer's disease, will meet on Monday, Oct. 14, in the GSV Concord Room.
