Support Local Vendors at Smoke on the Susquehanna

People can come and enjoy a beautiful day along the river and support local businesses, meet fantastic people, have some delicious food and it's kid-friendly," said April Geesey, owner of Spitfire Events, describing Smoke on the Susquehanna Market. "What a great way to shake those winter blues, to come walk around and see what the community offers."

Smoke on the Susquehanna will be held at John Wright Restaurant, 234 N. Front St., Wrightsville, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 19.

The event will feature about 100 vendors that are local small businesses, along with numerous food trucks, face painting, a balloon artist and opportunities to support a local organization through giveaways.

"All proceeds are donated to Building Bridges for Brianna," Geesey said. "They will be set up there, helping spread the word on suicide prevention."

Geesey noted that the idea for the event came after she started her business, Burning Hell Hot Sauce, and she wanted to support other small businesses as well.

"We thought hosting events would be a great way to do that," she said. "We wanted to bring other businesses together and be able to have the community support them in this beautiful location along the river. And we know a lot of people miss the Bridge Bust they used to have before COVID, so we thought this would be another way to kind of bring that back in a smaller version."

Participating vendors at Smoke on the Susquehanna will include Burning Hell Hot Sauces; BathWerx; Driftwood Designs; Sunny Soaps; The Cake Jar Shoppe; Pam's Passion; Terra & Tallow; Hound Dog Bakery; and Kassie's View Photography, which will offer on-the-spot portraits. Food trucks will include Midnite Smokin' BBQ, Mamma's Meltz, G's Concessions, Noel's Cafe, Wrightsville Pizza Kings and more.

Founded in 2020, Building Bridges for Brianna is a York County-based nonprofit dedicated to providing mental health resources and support throughout the state. It helps with co-pays; provides coping tools; offers Question, Persuade, Refer prevention training; and works to bring mental health concerns into the spotlight. The organization also offers free or reduced-cost mental health care through licensed social workers and therapists, and it holds an annual Bridge Building Festival each September.

Smoke on the Susquehanna is a pet-friendly event. It will be held rain or shine. For more information, search for "Smoke on the Susquehanna Market" or "Spitfire Events" on Facebook.
