The Elizabethtown Area Chamber of Commerce will fire up the grill for its annual chicken barbecue fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday, June 7. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Elizabethtown Area High School, 600 E. High St., Elizabethtown.

Each meal will include a half-chicken, donated by Longenecker's Hatchery and prepared by Peters' BBQ, along with a baked potato, a roll with butter, applesauce, a drink and a sweet treat from Mars Wrigley.

Purchasing a meal will provide more than just food; it's a meaningful way to invest in Elizabethtown's future.

"Proceeds from this chicken barbecue will directly support the Chamber's efforts to grow local businesses, create networking opportunities and strengthen our community through events and development programs," said Denise Grove, executive director of the Elizabethtown Area Chamber of Commerce. "The Elizabethtown Area Chamber of Commerce is a community of businesses and organizations engaged to promote, sustain and facilitate vibrancy in our greater Elizabethtown area."

A network of local businesses and organizations, the Chamber has a long history in Elizabethtown. It was established in 1928, and the organization works year-round to provide resources, community partnerships and programs. Some of the Chamber's initiatives include Women in Business, Coffee & Conversation, a Non-Profit Roundtable and the Young Adult Business Collective. The Chamber also spotlights local businesses in a podcast called "Beyond the Chamber with Denise Grove" and operates a website of information and community activities in Elizabethtown at http://www.discoverelizabethtown.com.

Hosting events such as the chicken barbecue helps to raise funds for Chamber activities and also promotes visibility of Chamber programs. Grove encourages everyone to consider purchasing a barbecue ticket, adding, "Come on out and support the work of the Chamber all while enjoying a great meal."
