Take A Sweet Stroll Through Town

"E-town's like a box of chocolates," joked Clint Gibble, owner of The Candy Unicornium. "You never know what you're going to find." That's what he says people can expect at LIV-ETown's Chocolate Walk, to be held during Elizabethtown's 2nd Friday on Friday, Feb. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m.

There is a small fee to participate in the Chocolate Walk, said Tony Gibble, owner of The Tatted Toy Guys. "You get a Valentine's-themed box and head out to businesses on your route to collect different chocolate to fill your box," he explained.

In addition to filling their box, participants can enjoy a Conversation Hearts Scavenger Hunt. "You'll pick up the hunt sheet and explore downtown businesses on it to find the conversation heart hidden with each place, then write down its saying and complete the sheet," said Clint. A scavenger hunt tailored to the theme of each 2nd Friday is offered, and everyone who participates receives a free candy prize from The Candy Unicornium as well as a chance to win a grand prize valued at several hundred dollars. "This month's theme and grand prize is sponsored by Annie M. Weiler and Carrie Chapman of Coldwell Banker Realty," Tony noted.

Last year was the first time Liv-ETown held a Chocolate Walk, and the event was very successful, Clint said. "We ran out of boxes in 45 minutes," he recalled. "This year, thanks to the participating businesses and our event sponsor, we will have many more supplies to handle the demand."

At 2nd Fridays, Elizabethtown businesses are encouraged to provide discounts or specials and have a feature or activity to highlight the evening's festivities. The Chocolate Walk is just one of numerous events organized throughout the year by LIV-ETown. Proceeds from the Chocolate Walk will be used to fund free community events such as a Wonderlandza Egg-Stravaganza, a Strawberry Social, an Octoberfest Pirates Plunder, a Halloween parade and more.

Clint encourages everyone to come out for The Chocolate Walk, adding, "Connect with your fellow community, meet the employees and owners of the shops downtown and enjoy an evening of laidback fun while supporting local businesses and the events LIV-ETown creates."
