Meals on Wheels of Lancaster will hold its first-ever Mother's Day Meals To-Go fundraising event. Community members may preorder takeout home-cooked meals and desserts and pick up the food on Saturday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Meals on Wheels of Lancaster, 1411 Columbia Ave. The food will be prepared by the staff members and volunteers of the organization.

The Mother's Day Meals To-Go event is a celebration of all the mother figures in people's lives, including mothers, grandmothers, caregivers and anyone else who nurtures and guides. Meals on Wheels of Lancaster was founded by women, and the organization's clients have primarily been women, noted executive director Feleen Nancarvis.

The meals will include a choice of Gene Wenger's Famous Hamloaf with roasted potatoes and broccoli, vegetarian lasagna with a side of carrots and green beans, or a box of sweets and a small bouquet of flowers. The fee is the same for each of the three options, and people may purchase any number of combinations. The meals are portioned for individual serving sizes.

Tickets must be purchased by Saturday, April 27, at https://bit.ly/MothersDayMOW, and all of the proceeds will benefit the work of Meals on Wheels of Lancaster for the community. Those who wish to pay by cash, by check, or via offline methods may email info@lancastermow.org.

All ticket purchasers will be invited to make an additional donation for a chance to win one of the following giveaway drawing prizes: a Taste of Lancaster gift tower donated by Lancaster Gift Box, a Paint & Sip event for up to 10 guests donated by Paint & Sip Studios, a hand-painted ceramic tray and a bottle of 2009 Boyanci Inspire cabernet sauvignon from Napa Valley, and a Meals on Wheels of Lancaster swag bag. Winners will be announced on Saturday, May 4, and the prizes will be available for pickup during the event on May 11.
