Talk On Hopewell Slated

The Friends of Hopewell Furnace will present a program by Hopewell park ranger Bill Lange titled "The Making of a Park: The French Creek RDA" on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. The event will be held at Hopewell's visitor center. Admission is free and open to the public.

Attendees will learn how Hopewell Furnace was used again after operations halted in 1883 when Louise Brooks, the granddaughter of ironmaster Clement Brooke, sold the submarginal land parcel to the United States on Aug. 13, 1935, as part of a federal program known as Recreational Demonstration Areas (RDA).

Hopewell Furnace is located at 2 Mark Bird Lane, Elverson. For more information, call 610-582-8773 or email friendsofhopewellfurn@gmail.com.
