Talk To Explore History Of Surgery

The Lancaster Medical Heritage Museum will hold its monthly Lunch and Learn webinar on Monday, June 6, at noon. Dr. Gerald Rothacker, emeritus physician at Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster, will present the lecture, titled "The History of Total Hip Replacement in Lancaster County."

Rothacker, a retired orthopedic surgeon, will first review the history of orthopedic surgery in Lancaster County and then discuss specifically the history of total hip replacement and its evolution from an operation requiring a two-week hospital stay to an outpatient procedure. The changing indications, techniques, materials and post-operative recoveries will be discussed.

Lunch and Learn webinars are held on the first Monday of every month. The cost is a pay-what-you-wish donation, which benefits the Lancaster Medical Heritage Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
