Tank crewman to speak at meeting

The Central Pennsylvania World War II Roundtable will meet on Thursday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 433 E. Main St., Hummelstown. The event will also be livestreamed on the "Central Pennsylvania World War II Roundtable" YouTube channel.

The speaker will be veteran Harry Miller. He servedĀ as a tank crewman with elements of several divisions, entering combat in Europe in October 1944 and zigzagging along the Siegfried Line, ultimately pushing the Germans east until the end of the war. Although combat had ended, Miller remained in Germany until 1948 on peacekeeping assignments, managing the temporary zones of the Soviets, Germans, and Austrians in the Bavarian Alps. His military career, including serving in the Army and Air Force, continued until 1966. He served in Korea, the Cold War, and Vietnam, and he was stationed in the South Pacific, Alaska, New York, and Washington, D.C. He also returned to Europe.

The meeting is open to the public, and no registration is required. For additional information, visit http://www.centralpaww2roundtable.org.
