When Teen Central hosts Light the Night, the organization strives to provide an event that's fun, welcoming and family-friendly. "The goal of this event is to connect with the Manheim community and share the light and love of Jesus specifically on Halloween, a night that can often feel dark," explained Shontel Griffith, activities coordinator for Teen Central. Light the Night will be held at the organization, 15 S. Wolf St., Manheim, during the same time as trick-or-treat night in Manheim Borough, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

The festivities, which are all free, will include games with prizes, candy, grilled hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, a photo booth, hot chocolate and a s'mores station.

Children are encouraged to come in costume.

"We love Light the Night because it allows us to engage with a broad range of people from the community," Griffith noted. "This event is perfect for trick-or-treaters who are walking through town. They can stop by to grab a snack and candy from friendly volunteers."

It's also a great event for people who prefer an alternative to traditional Halloween festivities, she said, adding, "They can come to hang out in a safe environment, playing games and hanging out around a campfire and enjoying good company."

Teen Central's building will be open during the event, and people are invited to check out the facilities and learn more about the ministry of Teen Central. The organization provides Christian-focused programs and activities for youths.

"This event is completely free and made possible by donations from local churches and businesses," Griffith shared. "All of the volunteers will be from Teen Central or local churches."

The rain date for Light the Night is Wednesday, Nov. 1, and that date would only be used if Manheim Borough moved the date of trick-or-treat night, she noted.
