The Cycle Of Supporting: Hogs And Heroes To Host Bike-A-Thon

The Hogs and Heroes Foundation Inc. Pennsylvania Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 Juniors will hold its first Juniors Bike-a-thon. Hogs and Heroes is a national foundation with the mission to sponsor and fundraise for the United States military and first responders.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Angels of America's Fallen, a nonprofit organization that encourages and funds activities for the children of fallen firefighters, military personnel, and members of law enforcement. Between grief counseling, scholarships, and more, Angels of America's Fallen supports the children all year, every year until adulthood.

There will be two opportunities to attend the Bike-a-thon. The first Bike-a-thon will occur on Saturday, June 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Amos Herr Park, 1700 Nissley Road, Landisville. The second Bike-a-thon will take place on Sunday, June 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cousler Park, 1060 Church Road, York. Both bike routes will be on walking trails, which are closed off to vehicular traffic.

During the event, participants will ride for an hour to raise money. Anyone under the age of 18 can participate in the Bike-a-thon, and the public is encouraged to attend. Participants are required to wear their own helmets and bring their own bicycles. There will be same-day registration, but preregistration can be completed online at http://bit.ly/juniorbikeathon. Participants will receive T-shirts, and prizes will be awarded for the most laps completed and the most money raised.

"This is a great chance to get out, be active, and for people to meet the Hogs and Heroes family because that's what we are ... a family," stated Theresa Draeger, Pennsylvania state IT officer for the Hogs and Heroes Foundation.

Sponsorships are available. For more information about Hogs and Heroes, visit http://www.hogsheroesfoundation.com.
